This place is my local haunt. Always friendly, always delicious. Great selection of beers on tap that aren't all IPA's. Jackie is the best! We walk because we're in the neighborhood, but there's a parking lot behind. A parking lot! In Hampden! So convenient. I didn't even eat Mexican food before coming here.

The food tasted great and looked amazing when it arrived at the table! The servers was attentive and the space was clean and inviting. We opted to dine indoors, but the outdoor space on the deck looked wonderful as well. The parking lot is rather small, but such is life in the city. Street parking can be found close by.

EDIT 5 years later (Feb 2025) I just had to add that we have continued to be fully satisfied by Papi's Hampden and order often. We love our stand-bys but also the specials. This week we had a delightful dinner at home (order/pickup) on Valentine's Day and all of our food was packaged in heart-shaped boxes! What a great little touch! The food was great and the packaging was just that extra special moment. (adding pics with our Valentine's boxes!) *One caveat, we always order chips with salsa and a side of guac, this was the smallest bag of chips we have ever gotten. Great and filling food! Delicious drinks! Friendly, if a bit slow, service! And great atmosphere... just steps from home (or from the Avenue in Hampden if you're visiting!) Try it out!

Food: This place doesn't claim to be Authentic- however they have multiple options for their tacos corn, flour, crunchy- authentic or otherwise and they all of which looked delicious! Also, in 2025- it is so rare for places to greet you with chips and salsa any more. I had hardly settled in to my bar stool before we had delicious homemade salsa and warm chips. I didn't ask if it was made in house but you can tell that it was because it tasted fresh with subtle spice and cumin! I love Cumin! My wife and I shared the queso fundido during happy hour. The fundido wasn't exactly what I expected-it was more a liquid melty cheese than a stringy stretchy cheese but regardless, it was delicious. For dinner we had the Fajitas Mixto. Do not sleep on these. Sizzling and smoking hot when they arrived it was so much food that even sharing the dish we had to take enough for another meal home. Service: The bartender was a shorter girl with dyed hair never that never stopped moving. She had nearly the entire bar section and was making the servers drinks as well. She never missed a beat. I was never empty on water or beer and she clearly knows her stuff. She even made time to chat with us and introduce herself. It turns out we are neighbors up the street and she invited us to come back on her shifts: Tuesday- Thursday, I wish I could remember her name but we will certainly be back so I will have to get it later; for now she will be the nice green haired neighbor lady. Atmosphere: This place was cute with really interesting decorations. Kitschy but not tacky. I love the comic book and vintage magazine wallpaper in the restrooms. The happy hour into early dinner vibe was lively but not so loud that I couldn't have a conversation. 5 Stars all around and I am so happy that we have found this so close to home.

Great Mexican restaurant and bar. Wish my enchiladas had about twice the salsa on them (verde in my case), but the quesadilla my buddy got was delicious. Complementary tortilla chips are great, salsa is good. Staff was attentive and super friendly. Good selection of beers and cocktails.

The food was amazing. The service was great. The environment was a bit small/cramped so it was loud.. but over all good experience. Must try Corn fritters with Jelly!

This is my second time here in two days. My first time coming here was yesterday. I got the birria nachos and the Esquites. The esquites is the reason I'm here for the second time in two days. It's soooooooo good. Yesterday I didn't realize it was a dip to be eaten with chips. I got carryout so everything was in the bag including the chips. I thought it was just extra chips for the nachos. Crazy I know. So instead I just ate the esquites by itself with a spoon. It reminds me a little of cream corn but better with all the spices and lime. So I wanted to try it again with the chips. But nope, I ate a little with the chips and then picked up a spoon and ate the rest. Even though the Birria nachos were supposed to be the main dish, they became the side. Don't get me wrong, they were delicious too and it was a huge portion. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying the other items on the menu.

Papi’s has been a welcomed and steadfast edition to the vibrant Hampden community for several years. My husband and I go regularly and it’s a great place to meet friends and bring family. Kids, parents, or larger groups? The dining room and patio (in nice weather) are very accessible and accommodating. Couples or solo and looking for conversation? The bar is fantastic and staff is welcoming and attentive. Jackie makes a great margarita and we always enjoy her company. The kitchen holds itself to a high standard, and there are too many things on the menu to recommend.
